Matlab
For the initial design Matlab was used to model the system and to determine desired physical characteristics. Matlab was also used to derive transfer functions and to determine gain values for the PID control.
This example shows that in order to recover from a 5 degree angle a motor driving a reaction wheel would need over 350amps on start up.
